Posting Info

Welcome to the Blue Moon Forum! This forum is staffed by two resident herbalists, Susan and Laura. This forum is open to herbal questions foremost about our critters, and poultry in particular. Since good management is key to the health of our animals, we also welcome discussion about housing, feeding and the great management ideas we have learned through our experience. We might even slip in some questions about us, if it is for a minor illness or injury. Most herbs have a "signature", which means they have known documented uses, and we can reasonably expect on those actions. No matter if we are addressing human or animal, as herbalists we work by the particular actions herbs produce. Learning about a single herb in a variety of applications will only deepen our knowledge and help us to more throughly learn the offerings of that herb. This site intends not only but to help, but to teach as well.

Since herbalists are not licensed by the AMA to diagnose or treat humans, we must offer the usual disclaimer to do what we do, as required under law. Just so you are informed...

THE USUAL DISCLAIMER: These listings are for educational purposes only and are not intended to serve as diagnosis or treatment. For any serious illness, consult a qualified health care practitioner.

Common sense tells us if your critter is experiencing severe symptoms or is critically ill, it is always better to seek help immediately with a local herbalist, homeopath or vet who can help you in person. Or a qualified health care practitioner for people. However, if your option is not open to emergency herbal. veterinary or medical care, we will certainly try our best to help. As good as we try to figure out what is going on, we are limited obviously because we can't examine in person. Which leads to my next paragraph!

For us to better help you with your critters, the more descriptive you can be about symptoms, obviously, the better. It also helps to know the age, how long you have been seeing symptoms (and what they are), if your critters are eating or drinking, and their basic energy level and activity. A brief rundown of the food you feed them, including supplemental foods (native herbs, veggies, fruits) will also help. Pictures do speak a thousand words in this kind of situation, and we do have the ability to post them here. Pictures can be posted by linking to anywhere you can load them on the internet. If you need help with this, give us a shout.

Finally, we welcome and encourage participation, so don't hesitate to respond on any thread, including a post where one of us may not have answered yet. You won't hurt our feelings! We hope we are helpful to you here, and we are always open for suggestions.
