CENTER>GOLDENSEAL - Hydrastis canadensis
Goldenseal is rapidly disappearing
from the wild, due to mass marketing and misinformed use. The antimicrobial alkaloids in this
plant (chiefly berberine and hydrastine) act as a contact disinfectant. It is greatly effective
when used in this manner for the mouth, upper respiratory tract, eyes, and because it is bitter,
it aids the digestive and urniary tracts. Rich in alkaloids, the herb has shown to be inhibit
a large range of bacteria, fungi, parasites and protozoan bodies it comes in contact with.
