Mites are vey common parasite, and they are everywhere! Even mites have mites! They burrow under the skin and can cause lesions on the skin. Symptoms in poultry can include a pale comb, skin and shanks. Although rare, red mites can cause sores in the roof of the mouth. Besides red mites, there are fowl mites, skin mites, and feather mites. Mites can't tolerate sulfur compounds, and that is why garlic can be so effective.
