A very eash eyewash can be made with goldenseal and a homemade saline solution. This solution can be used for infections, irritated or inflamed, infected eyes. Goldenseal in this capacity is a strong astringent, and reduces inflammation and has a strong affinity for the mouth and eyes. It is also a strong antimicrobial agent that quickly reduces inflammation and redness. I have found the tired, irritated feeling in the eye is reduced or gone almost immediately upon use.

Ingredients

Saline solution
8 oz sterile water
1/4 teaspoon natural salt

Goldenseal tincture


Application

Mix 3 drops goldenseal to 1 tablespoon saline solution is a small bottle. One drop for each eye, once daily for minor irritations, 2-3 drops for severe infections.
